We are excited to share a new case study on the impact of our 2020 hit show, Vencer el Miedo ("Overcome The Fear").
To recap, PMC worked with Televisa (the largest mass media company in the Spanish-speaking world) to create Vencer el Miedo, a show designed to promote healthier attitudes and behaviors around adolescent reproductive health. The goals were to reduce unplanned pregnancy and increase use of contraceptives among adolescent groups at risk in Mexico.
The new case study includes background on social issues in Mexico, viewership data, campaign impact results, and photos from the show.
To better understand audience engagement and interaction with PMC's radio show, Umurage 2 ("Inheritance for a Better Future"), PMC-Rwanda conducted a qualitative participatory evaluation with listeners. Themes that emerged from the study included improved couple communication and understanding the benefits of family planning methods.
A female listener from the Bugesera District said, “Following the messages passed through Umurage 2, my husband and I thought of a modern contraceptive method to use. The Gasake [Umurage character] family taught us a lot. I immediately decided to go for a five-year contraceptive plan so as to first cater for the child we have before getting another one, who we also intend to give a good life.”
We are storytellers. We use entertainment to improve the health and well-being of people around the world. Our work has impacted more than 50 countries.
